Younger riders compete in the Ixworth Crits

On a cold damp May Bank-Holiday Monday West Suffolk Wheelers held their annual town-centre races in Ixworth.

Mildenhall Cycling Club had riders in the younger age sections. Tom Adams (pictured right) riding his first ever road-race showed some determination and did well to finish the Under 12's race.

His elder brother and the more experienced cyclist, Will, competed in the under 14's section in the Youth race. Tom (pictured middle right) was the early leader, only losing out in the closing stages to Tom Gallagher (Welwyn Whls CC) and Daniel Snow (Team J.D Cycles), to finish third.

Mattt Cook (pictured bottom right) came up against some strong riders in the Under 16's race, with Interbike riders Dominic Schils, Jake Hales and Jack Waller dominating proceedings from the start. Despite still suffering the after effects of a cold bug, Matt had his own tussle with Luke Newby (Diss & District CC) and Thomas Castle (Ipswich BC). He beat his cyclo-cross rival Luke, but lost out to Thomas on the uphill finishing straight, to finish in sixth place.
